Intern

Brooke is a San Diego native and a graduate of UC San Diego who hopes to pursue a career improving science education and communication. While at UCSD, she obtained her B.S. in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution and gained research experience in several labs including the Taylor Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Oechel lab at San Diego State University Research Foundation. While in these labs, she studied ecology of the Red Tuna Crab and Chaparral ecosystems, respectively. After college, Brooke went on to intern at Ichthus Unlimited, a company focused on sustainable aquaculture. In her work thus far, she has found herself motivated to make science a more accessible and welcoming place. She recognizes how difficult it can be to thrive in science without proper support and hopes to be able to provide students with the confidence and knowledge necessary to thrive in STEM related fields. She is extremely excited to start interning with Earth Discovery Institute and looks forward to helping support EDI’s mission to engage the community through science education and stewardship. In her free time, Brooke enjoys playing with her cat, Wednesday, and her dog, Ginger, going on walks, and spending time with her friends and family.
