Outreach for Conservation
EDI believes that including the community in interpretive events and volunteer stewardship activities builds public understanding of the purposes and value of habitat conservation. As citizens’ appreciation for natural open spaces grows, so may appropriate and compatible recreational use of and support for such lands.
Volunteer environmental stewardship events, weekly volunteer teams in two locations, and conservation interpretive activities involve citizens directly in their local conserved lands.
These events educate community members, youth and adults, about the local environment. EDI works with our conservation partners to provide guided hikes and rides, educational signage and materials, as well as special activities for occasions such as Earth Day, National Public Lands Day, and Endangered Species Day. Look for these events on our Events List or Calendar.
