iNaturalist Training: Become a citizen scientist!

  • Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve 14715 Campo Rd Jamul, CA, 91935 United States (map)

When you walk in your local park or wildlife refuge, have you ever noticed a strange flower or bug and wondered what it was? This is an invitation to contribute to our scientific understanding of the natural world using just your smart phone or device. Snap photos of the plants and animals you see as you stroll and submit them through the iNaturalist app, and someone will likely identify them for you! It's easy, fun, rewarding, and we'll teach you all you need to know to get started.

This amazing opportunity is offered in conjunction with the San Diego Natural History Museum in preparation for this year’s City Nature Challenge. Cities around the world will be competing to see who can make the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people in the 2019 City Nature Challenge.  Last year, San Diego County came in third in the world for observations, this year, with your help, we’re shooting for first place.
