Help A Rare San Diego Species Thrive

  • 13950 El Monte Road Lakeside, CA, 92040 United States (map)

Join the Earth Discovery Institute, Endangered Habitats Conservancy, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Caltrans and California Department of Fish and Wildlife in rescuing a rare and beautiful native plant: San Diego ambrosia.

We're are recruiting volunteers to help relocate specimens dug from a site slated for development to an area around Hanson Pond, near Lake Jennings in Lakeside. We will provide equipment, hand trowels, shovels, etc. These plants are shallow rooters, so there's not a lot of heavy lifting or deep digging required. It's the perfect opportunity to support native flora and the San Diego River watershed. For more information or to RSVP text 619-654-3793 or send an email to
